My favorite thing about First Friday are the street vendors. Seriously. Though I love gallery hopping and drinking free wine, I most often find my favorite fashions hanging out on Congress Street. 

I did a double take when I spotted these floral tights. This gal was a true flower child with blossoms in her hair, on her shirt and on her gams. Piles of beaded bracelets and feathered accessories jangled as she hula hooped for the audience - whom I can only assume also admired her laid-book look. 

These friends have lived in Portland for ten years combined. We love their effortlessly chic looks.

Our gal in the striped tank and double-wrapped belt was born and raised in Maine. She sewed her high-waisted skirt - how crafty! Her friend’s lightweight tunic was a Goodwill find - how thrifty!

Together they were the perfect pair of relaxed style and savvy skill. 

Some folk like to wear their heart on their sleeve. This guy likes to wear “Perv Power” on his chest.  

Originally from Keene, New Hampshire, this t-shirt designer was selling his 100% recycled shirts during July’s First Friday. He makes them in his basement on Warren Avenue.
